Atmosphere Lighting is a feature of the Turn Off the Lights browser extension where it shows you a blue glow or other colors around the video player (on YouTube or on a HTML5 video). To enable this feature open the Turn Off the Lights options page, and click on the “Visual Effects” tab. There you see a checkbox to enable this “Atmosphere Lighting” feature.

Of course you can customize the look of this glow effect, there is 4 options to for the video player:

  • One solid color, shows default the blue color.
  • Change self to 4 separate colors, for top; bottom; left and right.
  • The 4 colors around the border of the video content.
  • Vivid Mode, this show you the most realistic color of the video content.

How enabled/disable this feature in the Turn Off the Lights browser extension?

Google Chrome / Firefox / Opera / Maxthon / Yandex.Browser

  1. Right click on the gray lamp button
  2. Select “Options”
  3. Click on the “Visual Effects” tab
  4. Uncheck the “Atmosphere Lighting” box


  1. Open your Safari browser
  2. Click on “Safari” -> Preference
  3. Open the tab “Extensions”
  4. Click on the “Turn Off the Lights”
  5. Enable the Checkbox, to open the options page
  6. Click on “Visual Effects” tab
  7. Uncheck the “Atmosphere Lighting” box
  8. And restart your Safari browser
