And does not do&nbsp;these types of bad practices to our users. If you see ads on a web page, then you have possibly installed a fake extension in&nbsp;your web browser. Or that is installed automatically by an external application from&nbsp;the internet such as a &#8220;downloader program&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Identifying the Problem:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Unwanted Similar Ads:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you notice an influx of ads labeled as &#8220;similar&#8221; to the content you&#8217;re viewing, it&#8217;s likely that a malicious browser extension is at play.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Strange Browser Behavior:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Look out for unexpected changes in your browser, such as altered homepage settings, default search engine modifications, or unfamiliar toolbars.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Performance Issues:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Malicious extensions can slow down your browser or cause it to crash frequently. Please follow these instructions to remove the malware from your computer:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Google Chrome<br><\/strong>Go to the <strong>Chrome:\/\/extensions<\/strong> page and remove any Chrome extensions you do not know you have installed. Clicking on the trash icon right&nbsp;of the &#8220;Enabled checkbox&#8221; will remove the Chrome extension from your Google Chrome web browser. To make sure there is no content scripting running on the website, restart your Google Chrome browser to make sure similar ads are removed from your browser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you still have this issue? Then go to <em>Preferences<\/em> \u21d2<em> Extensions<\/em> and remove any extensions you don&#8217;t know you have installed. By clicking on the extension name on the left side, on the Uninstall button.&nbsp;Restart your Safari&nbsp;browser to make sure the similar ads are removed from your browser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Firefox<\/strong><br>Go to <strong>about:addons<\/strong> \u21d2 Extensions and remove any extensions you don&#8217;t know you have installed.&nbsp;Restart your Firefox&nbsp;browser to make sure the similar ads are removed from your browser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"windows\">Windows<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Run a full scan of your computer with your antivirus program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Run a full malware scan with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malwarebytes.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Malwarebytes<\/a> (free, and safe to install alongside your antivirus)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you see small text under or close to the ads saying <code>Ads by &lt;something&gt;<\/code>, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/malwaretips.com\/blogs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MalwareTips<\/a>, and enter the name you see after &#8220;Ads by&#8221; in the <em>Search Malware<\/em> box (in the top right corner).
